What "legally binding" means here
DocFila e-signatures are electronic signatures under the US ESIGN Act and UETA, and simple electronic signatures (SES) under the EU eIDAS Regulation. They are not advanced (AES) or qualified (QES) electronic signatures.
What DocFila records for every signature request:
- Consent to an electronic signature disclosure
- How the signer was authenticated: a one-time code emailed to them, or their signed-in DocFila account
- A hash-chained audit trail with server timestamps and IP address
- A tamper-evident seal on the signed PDF
